Designed by the iconic Holt Howard company, this mid-century ceramic soup and sandwich set is a total delight and a very rare find! Manufactured in Japan, it features six vibrant red, glossy tomato-shaped soup mugs with an intricately stylized green leaf handle. The matching plates are molded and hand-painted to resemble a lettuce or cabbage leaf. The set was manufactured in 1962 by Holt Howard and all pieces are marked.
The vivid original glaze is fragile and does show a bit of age-related wear which is consistent with use. There are no cracks or repairs. This beautifully whimsical set will be a fabulous addition to your kitchen to display, enjoy and use!
Details:
• The set contains six leaf-shaped plates & six tomato soup cups
• Cups measure 2.5” tall, 3.5” diameter, about 5” across from handle to rim
• They feature a bright red tomato shape & green leaf shaped handle
• Plates measure 8.5 x 7.25” and have an indent to hold the cup
• Manufactured in Japan in 1962 by Holt Howard
• Cups & plates bear printed mark
Condition:
• In very good vintage condition
• Some small finish flaws from age and use
• This includes paint loss, a few tiny flea bites, and a few small chips on the underside of two plates
• No cracks
