The Process:
Pieces are produced through a production process called slip casting with plaster molds filled with liquid “slip” clay sourced from upstate NY. The clay is made of minerals, kaolin and flint. Drips overflow, and the clay coaleses at it’s own pace. This ebb and flow during the curing process forms the subtle variations that eventually surface on each piece. When ready, pieces are bisque-fired up to 2200 degrees, then hand-glazed before firing again.
