What we love:
This early waste bowl has a beautiful stick & sponge hand-painted floral pattern and a classic shape and form. Waste bowls were originally used during afternoon tea to empty cold tea before refilling a cup with hot tea and to hold spent tea leaves or any dregs left in the bottom of the cup. This piece has hand-painted stick & sponge florals & leaves in vivid red & blue.
Details:
• Measures 4⅜” tall, 7.25” in diameter
• Approximately 3.5” deep
• Footed base is 4” in diameter
• Hand-painted stick & sponge patter in red & blue
• Features flowers and leaves
• Printed & stamped makers mark in the bottom
• Made in Belgium in the early/mid 1800s
Condition:
• In very good condition
• No chips or cracks
• A little discoloration & glaze pops in the interior from use
• Some minor flaws in the hand-painted pattern
• Slight aged patina & discoloration on the top rim
• Base rim is discolored
• Displays beautifully!
